Born into the home of an already-single mother, Domenic was used to, for a very long time, living paycheck to paycheck without any guarantee of anything remaining the same. His mother's job was stable, but not the most understanding of her need to, at times, disappear to pick Dom up from school, or God forbid, take him to the doctor's. She was young, and did the best she could for her child, but even the best attempts tend to be spun the wrong way around, and his mother suffered an accident, which left her unable to work, when Dom was twelve. Their budget grew tighter as they were forced into a limited budget, more limited than Dom had thought possible, but they managed. He made his way through high school, and took well to his math classes, although he tended to avoid his history classes more than anything. He got a few part-time jobs, but none lasted very long for a high schooler trying to juggle those, school, and briefly crippling depression.
He graduated, though not with any honors (besides a stellar grade in his AP Stats class he was quite proud of), and took to the Community College, with yet more part time jobs, to try and find exactly what it was he wanted to do. He found a passion for math, which he'd already known about in a general way, but dove into the Bachelor's program eagerly enough. He thought briefly of accounting, but the idea of being in charge of someone's entire funds didn't sit well with him quite yet, and he put those plans on hold to drive around quite a bit of the Western US in a decently maintained '95 Chevy Astro Passenger. It's been a selfish choice so far, but has given him some element of freedom, not that he hasn't almost always returned to Arizona.
